DURGLASS® fiberglass rebar represents an innovative, high-performance solution for temporary fiberglass reinforcement bars in underground construction and geotechnical consolidation works. These bars are made of longitudinally oriented glass fibers impregnated with polyester resin through a continuous pultrusion process.
A special quartz-sand coating and aramid fiber wrapping along the entire length ensures excellent adhesion to concrete and superior performance under demanding site conditions.
DURGLASS® Fiberglass Rebar: Properties and Applications
DURGLASS® GFRP rebar (Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer) is available in round or flat sections, in both straight and bent configurations. It offers exceptional lightness, easy cutting, and effortless handling, features that allow fast, safe installation even in confined or difficult-to-access work areas.
Thanks to their high tensile strength and controlled shear resistance, DURGLASS® fiberglass bars are ideal for temporary applications such as diaphragm walls, retaining walls, Berlin walls, piles, and micropiles, as well as slope stabilization and soil consolidation. Their compatibility with traditional steel reinforcement allows easy integration into existing systems, providing an excellent alternative wherever subsequent drilling or removal of reinforcement is required.
In soft eye tunneling and tunnel excavation with TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine), reinforcement cages made with DURGLASS® fiberglass bars offer an effective solution to challenges related to cutting through reinforced concrete structures such as launching shafts, intermediate pits, and underground stations.
In these applications, the use of fiberglass reinforcement bars eliminates the need for manual demolition, significantly reducing excavation times and operational costs.
