SONIC PIPE DURVINIL

DURVINIL® SONIC PIPE

Sonic logging pipe for non-destructive testing and monitoring of concrete structures

DURVINIL® sonic pipes are designed for cross-hole ultrasonic testing (CSL), a high-resolution, non-destructive method used to evaluate the integrity and quality of deep foundation elements such as piles, diaphragm walls, and other concrete structures.

DURVINIL® Sonic Pipe: Method of Use

concrete to assess its internal quality. The system uses a transmitter and a receiver (microphone) lowered into the sonic pipes. A constant sound velocity indicates a homogeneous structure and well-executed concreting, while variations or reductions in wave speed may signal defects such as voids, cracks, or foreign inclusions within the concrete mass.

Manufactured in PVC, the DURVINIL® sonic logging pipes are available in various diameters and lengths and can be easily joined to reach the required depth. They are fixed to the reinforcement cage with wire or cable ties before concreting.
Once installed, the sonic pipes allow for continuous, non-destructive monitoring of concrete quality, providing essential data on porosity, void distribution, and grouting effectiveness.

Sireg Geotech produces DURVINIL® sonic pipes in standard 6-meter lengths and in diameters ranging from 1½” to 3”. The pipes can be securely coupled to achieve the required depth on site.

Compared to traditional metal pipes, DURVINIL® PVC sonic logging pipes offer multiple advantages:

  • Better sound wave propagation
  • Lightweight design
  • Easy and quick installation
  • Lower overall cost

These properties make DURVINIL® sonic pipes a reliable, efficient, and cost-effective solution for the quality control and integrity testing of concrete structures.
